Also, the climax wasn't as epic as the first one. It really felt like a let down to walk through a wasteland, into an academy, and then beat the final boss, where she explains all the plot holes in one go. Compare that to the first where you lead a final battle against the Star Forge and defeat Darth Malak. Also, KotOR 2 wasn't complete. At all.

Sure KOTOR was great, but the choices and dialogue options you were making were 2-dimensional. KOTOR 2 tried to bring more mature themes. Yes, it had it's flaws and it was a bit rushed in production (and keep in mind that it was made by another developer), but it was a worthy successor.
Personally, if I had desire to play KOTOR again and I had to chose between first or second one, I'd chose the second one.

It gets very very close to achieving something that could be real (given the exact conditions needed for the moon to exist the way it does), but it is still missing some key components. The big thing that makes this world sort of impossible is that trees don't have neural tissue. Plants can communicate with hormones, but hormones and electric signaling through synapses are two very different things, and only true animals (basically from jellyfish and anenomes on up) have it.
